Evoluent Verticalmouse 4 misses clicks

For several years I've been using a Evoluent mouse, I love them, they work really well. I started with the Verticalmouse 2 model, which always worked perfectly. But after a few years, the mouse was worn so I decided to buy a new one from Evoluent, the Verticalmouse model 4.

The model 4 was better than model 2, it has more buttons, the sensor resolution is selectable and the design is improved. But, using it for a while, I found out that it sometimes misses clicks and sometimes was slow to respond.

After searching on the internet I found out that this was caused by the "Power down mode" from the USB Controllers in Windows. Switching off the power down mode, forcing it to be always on, fixed my problems and now it works perfectly. You can do this by:

• go to the Windows control panel
• open the hardware manager
• go to Universal Serial Bus controller
• open the tree with the items
• open for each item the properties and see if it has a property for "Energy-Saving", if so, disable it
